Elon Musk Talks Future Plans

Elon Musk spoke about his dreams and ambitions for the future, outlining plans to use his capacity as a Trump advisor to get involved in the mass transit and infrastructure industry, using his newly created Boring Company to dig further holes. He stressed that he didn’t want to be the salvation of the world, and that his work wasn’t a ‘save-the-world’ trip.

“I’m not trying to be anyone’s savior. I am just trying to think about the future and not be sad. You’ll tell me if it ever starts getting genuinely insane, right?”

Musk spoke about his ambition for self-driving trucks, stating that fleets of electric, emission-free, vehicles can be directed from a control center. He even teased the crowd with a picture of the self-driving truck which he said would be as strong as any other truck and handle like a sports car. He said that a prototype exists and he had fun driving it.

“When I was driving the test prototype for the first truck, it was really weird. I thought, ‘This is crazy!’ driving this large truck and it’s doing these amazing maneuvers.”

Musk spoke about his most recent business venture, the Boring Company which he apparently thought of whilst stuck in traffic on his way to the office. He decided that digging huge tunnels under the ground would be a way to reduce congestion and ease the traffic situations of urban areas. He said that he had started trying to dig tunnels in Los Angeles, although he only devotes a very small fraction of his time to the project.

“The Boring company has a pet snail named Gary that inches along far faster than the current machines used to create tunnels”

He spoke about SpaceX and where he wants to take the company, namely Mars, by making spaceflight incredibly cheap and accessible by reusing the rockets. He stated a fact that he’d used before, saying that if you had to build a new plane every time you wanted to travel, you’d rarely leave your own country.

“If there were a whole bunch of flying cars going all over the place, that’s not an anxiety-reducing situation. You’re thinking, ‘Did they service their hub cap, or is it going to come off and guillotine me?’”

Other topics on the agenda:

Solar Powered roof tiles that would charge you Tesla car

The Gigafactory ramping up production, with 4 new facilities announced to tackle to global market

Criticism of him working with President Trump

“I have used them thus far to argue in favor of immigration and in favor of (addressing) climate change. That wasn’t on the agenda before. Maybe nothing will happen, but at least the words were said.”

He also spoke to SpaceX’s plans to send humans around the moon next year. He stopped short of naming the private astronauts, who were obviously wealthy men, but did state that this plan was well under way.

It’s fair to say that Elon has a lot on his plate at the minute, but knowing Elon Musk, I am pretty sure he can handle it just fine.
